Infrared Thermometer
An Injection Moulded Design
“No Fastener” Design
After being inspired by the design philosophy of American Engineer Sandy Munro, I gained a profound appreciation for the significance of designing for manufacturability.
For this university project, we delved into the intricacies of an existing infrared thermometer by disassembling it. Our objective was to reimagine its design for injection moulding, using the thermometer's internal components.
While the original model was commendable, it relied on threaded fasteners for its assembly.
For my version, I ambitiously opted for a snap-fit design, avoiding the use of any threaded fasteners. This approach not only streamlines the manufacturing process but also enhances the product's overall quality.
